Nairobi National Park
Let's Explore Kenya

Nairobi National Park Is All About

Nairobi National Park, established in 1946, is Kenya's oldest national park and the only one in the world located within a capital city. Covering approximately 117 square kilometres, it is situated just 7 kilometres south of Nairobi's city centre. Despite its proximity to urban life, the park boasts a diverse range of wildlife and ecosystems, including open grass plains, acacia bush, highland dry forest, and riverine habitats. The park is fenced on three sides but open to the south, allowing migratory wildlife to move freely between it and the adjacent Kitengela plains.

Best Time to Visit

The dry season, from June to October, is generally the best time to visit Nairobi National Park for wildlife viewing. During this period, vegetation is less dense, and animals tend to congregate around water sources, providing excellent game-viewing opportunities. However, the park's beauty is also evident during the short rains from November to December when the landscape becomes lush and green.
