Karen Blixen Museum And Giraffe Centre Is All About

The Karen Blixen Museum (Guided Tour) is inspired by Karen's life story who was one of the pioneer coffee farmers in Nairobi. She was Danish born and also an author known by her pen name ‘Isak Dinesen’. She also inspired the making of the renowned movie 'Out of Africa'. As you step through the front door, you’ll be met by a guide who will take your round the museum. Enter a world frozen in time, where every corner of the house tells a story of adventure, romance, and resilience. The interior retains much of its original charm, with antique furnishings, vintage photographs, and personal mementos belonging to Karen Blixen herself adorning the rooms.

The Giraffe Centre is a conservation destination made famous by Daisy Rothschild, a rescued giraffe calf found on the western border of Kenya. You enter a sanctuary where giraffes roam freely amidst acres of natural habitat, their elegant forms silhouetted against the backdrop of Nairobi's skyline.

Perhaps the most memorable experience of all during your visit is feeding the giraffes themselves. Holding out a handful of specially formulated pellets, you feel the gentle touch of a giraffe's tongue as it reaches out to accept the offering. With the help of knowledgeable guides, you learn about the conservation efforts underway to protect these endangered animals and the important role that the Giraffe Centre plays in their survival. Through interactive exhibits and informative presentations, you gain a deeper understanding of giraffe biology, behavior, and the challenges they face in the wild.
